Welcome Message

Welcome to the new face of Austin Ultimate. Brought to you by UPLA!

What is UPLA?

UPLA (pronounced YOU-play) stands for the Ultimate Players League of Austin. UPLA is a Texas non-profit established to coordinate and facilite Ultimate activity in and around Austin.

UPLA’s MISSION:

    To serve the greater Austin Ultimate community by organizing, promoting and developing the sport and spirit
    of Ultimate for all ages and levels of competition.

In addition, UPLA also:

1) Fosters local, regional, national and international amateur sports competition by conducting Ultimate events and by supporting and developing amateur athletes for such competition, and by:

  • Operating/facilitating local leagues and tournaments;
  • Maintaining Austin’s Ultimate website;
  • Creating a calendar of events; and
  • Managing the Austin Ultimate list-serve

2) Supports the development and sustenance of local teams (e.g., adult, collegiate and youth) through coaching and limited financial assistance;

3) Serves as a resource for the support and development of Ultimate, in general, and by communicating with and linking together other Ultimate associations.

This includes amenities like finding fields, providing website space/expertise, and material support in the way of cones, tables, coolers, etc…one of the very concrete ways in which UPLA would like to ‘promote and develop the sport’ is to give financial support to local teams. The UPLA board has discussed extensively how to do this in a way that makes sense. Our conclusion was that UPLA could partner with teams to run events like leagues and tournaments. If you are part of a local Austin team and think that your team would like to participate in running leagues, tournaments, and other events in Austin, please contact anyone on the UPLA Board. We will also be posting any opportunities on our website.
