Youth Austin Update

What has UPLA been doing of late to support youth ultimate in the Austin area? We're glad you asked ...

On March 1st, a donation of 80 discs was made to all players who participated in the recently completed 2009 Austin High School Winter League season! Several UPLA board members were present and helped to hand out the discs. And, this donation was made in support of another organization working to promote ultimate here in Austin!

On March 28th, a donation of approximately 50 discs was made to all participants in a one-day Middle School Tournament! As with the high school league, this donation helped to support another organization working with youth here in Austin.

On March 29th, at the request of several other organizations in the Austin area, UPLA helped coordinate and run a Middle School Clinic at the UT IM Fields! Participants were taught "skills and drills" by an outstanding group of volunteer coaches that gladly offered their services. Players then had a chance to apply what they'd learned during a clinic-ending scrimmage. As the completion of the clinic coincided with the start of the Women's College Centex Final, several players opted to stick around and enjoy some top-tier action!
