What are the team's origins/When was the team started?
Doublewide was founded by Keith Sandel in 2001 as an elite level ultimate club team based in Austin.

The core of the first team roster came from the Houston Hounds, but since that time, the majority of the players have been Austin based.

Where did the team name come from?
A majority of the original players lived in doublewide mobile homes, so the name was a logical choice.
What's the farthest the team has traveled for a tournament?
Perth, Western Austrlia
What are some of the highlights from the team's history?
The team has won the Texas club sectional tournament in all but one year of its existence.
2001 - Qualified for UPA club nationals in its first year.
2003 - Won the south regional tournament in Atlanta, GA over Chain Lightening (Atlanta). At nationals took second place in pool play beating Big Ass Truck (Ann Arbor) and G-Unit (Madison) (Lost to Furious George (Vancouver)) to qualify for the power pools. Won a pre-quarter game against Boss Hogg (Boston). Finished tied for 7th.
2004 - Finalist at the Boston Invite with notable wins over Twisted Metal (Boston), New York (NYC), and Ring of Fire (Raleigh). Qualified for UPA club nationals and finished 10th.
2005 - Won the Heat Out tournament in Baton Rouge. Qualified for UPA club nationals where the team twice overcame 3-8 half time deficits to win games. One of these games was the pre-quarters game against Potomac (DC). Finshed 8th at UPA club nationals and earned a bid to WFDF club worlds.
2006 - Won Heat Out. Competed in the WFDF club worlds tournament in Perth, Western Australia.
2007 - Won Heat Out. Semi-finalist at the Labor Day tournament in Santa Cruz, CA with notable wins over Furious George and Revolver (Bay Area). Won the south region over Chain Lightening to qualify for UPA club nationals where the team finished 14th.
What are the short- or long-term goals?
Doublewide is a well nasty ultimate club based in Austin, TX. We are a
balanced team with neither superstars nor role players committed to
common goals: Play hard, fair, and with respect for our teammates and
our opponents. After a dissatisfying finish at 2007 UPA Club
Championships, Doublewide is committed to starting the season with
fresh ideas and a hard work ethic. We hope to see you soon on the
field.
Is the team currently seeking more players
Doublewide's roster has been set for the 2008 season. Tryouts for the 2009 season will be held in Spring 2009.
