LiveLogic Texas Shootout 2009

On June 5-7, Austin club teams Doublewide and Showdown will host the Texas Shootout 2009 tournament sponsored by LiveLogic. The tournament is a competitive club tournament with a prize purse attracting teams from across the country. The action starts on Friday evening with three showcase games at House Park stadium.

The event kicks off with a middle school all-star game scheduled for 6:20, to be closely followed by the high school all-stars at 7:00. Finally, the showcase games will conclude with a face-off between the University of Texas’s TUFF (fresh off of their third place finish at the 2009 National College Championships) and Austin’s Doublewide, 8:00-9:30pm. Friday night will also include the first ever Ultimate exhibition during halftime of the Austin Aztex game. The Aztex are Austin's new professional soccer team who are playing South Carolina's Charleston Battery at Nelson Field, 7400 Berkman, 7 pm. Showdown will be facing off against fellow 2008 UPA Nationals Quarterfinalist, North Carolina's Backhoe. This matchup features three players who are traveling to Taiwan this summer to represent their nation at the International World Games: Showdown's Cara Crouch (Team USA) and Katey Forth (Great Britain), and Backhoe's Cate Foster (Team USA).

Action continues Saturday and Sunday with a round robin format at the UT Intramural fields. The top two open teams and the top two womens' teams compete in two finals for the prize purses Sunday afternoon. Everyone is invited to watch some great high level ultimate and cheer on the home teams!
