UT Recsports Ultimate Camp

Don’t hesitate! The UT Ultimate Camp kicks off another summer session in just a few weeks!

The camp will take place June 15-19 at the UT Intramural Fields (Whitaker Fields), at 51st Street and Guadalupe. It’s a day-camp format, running 8:30am-12:00pm. Girls and boys, ages 8-17 are all welcome!

Over the years, the camp has been frequented by some of the best, most Spirited youth ultimate players in Austin, and worked by outstanding, energetic college and club players from the area. Campers learn and work on the basics of ultimate, enjoy healthy snacks, play the game, and make plenty of friends. Based on the increasingly high level of youth ultimate being played in Austin, we also plan to debut a new “advanced” curriculum for experienced players this summer.

2009 marks Colleen Schmitt Conrad’s fourth summer working at the UT ultimate camp, and her second as the camp’s director. As a seventh grade English Language Arts teachers at Murchison Middle School, Coach Conrad is the founder and coach of the Murchison Ultimate Team (Norrisi). She has over ten years of coaching experience at youth sports camps across the country, including the National Ultimate Training Camp in Massachusetts. She is an Ultimate Players Association certified youth coach.

As always, this year’s coaching staff boasts an outstanding range of college and club players from Doublewide, Seuss, Showdown, Chewbacca Defense, Melee and Tuff. Katie Blyth, Steven Darroh, Jay Lane, Stephen Presley and Rebecca Shelton are all returning from the 2008 staff to guide youth ultimate players yet again. The combination of an experienced and enthusiastic coaching staff, Spirited and energetic campers, and the beautiful setting of the IM fields, makes for a fantastic experience for everyone.
